Hi, my name is Firdaus Karim and I am a private gecko breeder/hobbyist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I developed an interest in animals, primarily reptiles, ever since I was 2 years old. This is because I was raised by my grandparents in a (village) area from the day I was born until I was 12 years old. Back then, there was an easy access to various types of animals, whether it was domesticated livestock such as goats, chickens or ducks and even to the more exotic animals such as monitor lizards, macaques, pythons, tapirs or even turtles. You name it, and we got it. From my recollection, not even one day I lived my life without an animal or even not thinking about one. Taking care of animals is in my blood and I am devoted to taking care of them to the best of my capability.

I kept many species of animals over the years from fish to hamsters to guinea pigs to cats and even birds, but only to yield to my ultimate passion i.e. reptiles in the year 2000. The catalyst for this passion was fear and the motivation was curiosity. In short, reptiles are intriguing. Living in Asia (the land of many reptiles) has its disadvantages. One of them is that most of the people here fear reptiles, primarily snakes because they are referred to as the symbol of evil and therefore should be avoided at all cost. I have to admit that after being "brainwashed" since young, I must face all my demons in order to stay ahead in life. So, I took the challenge and bought my first snake. And that was start of everything that I tend to focus in life until to this very day. I never regret the decision since, even though I still do not know whether the passion is a blessing or even a curse. But I do know one thing i.e. I LOVE IT!

I kept various species of snakes (primarily pythons), varanids and chelonians until the year 2008 and decided to trade all my animals and move on with geckos (primarily leopards) by year 2009. So now I am a small scale breeder, dedicated to producing some of the world’s finest gecko specimens of various species to most (if not all) hobbyists and breeders to enjoy and appreciate. My aim is to offer quality captive bred animals, supported by the most transparent, honest and credible services possible based on my knowledge and experience over the years. And leopard gecko morphs will be my mainstream.

So, without further ado, I welcome you to The Gecko Shop. Please enjoy the ride because I assure you that it maybe twisted, but it will definitely be a fun and knowledgeable one.
